Every business owner or marketer dream is to rank number one on Google search engine. Ranking at number one position for chosen or important keywords for their niche business is important to improve business leads and traffic of the website.
But is it easier to get ranked at number one position? I don’t think so..
It takes roundabout efforts in SEO, SEM, and SMM for our website. Before proceeding to improve our efforts, we should understand how the Google search engine works. Google search engine is made of hardcore algorithm which analyses various factors to match the highest possible result for the query it receives. Every time when a user searches for a particular query, the algorithm goes through a different level of process and provides us the possible result.

1.Be relevant to your niche
There is always a chance to outrank our top competitors instead of trying to compete with large organizations that have seemingly unlimited marketing budgets. The key to succeed is to understand the competitive landscape.
Instead of trying to compete with big companies for highly competitive keywords, drill down to niche targeted keywords that are less competitive and where you can outrank the top competitors.
For instance take business management consulting firms, instead of trying to rank for management consulting firm, you could consider specializing in “supply chain consulting for mobile accessory manufacturing” or “sourcing consultants for auto parts.”These keywords are easier to rank.
2. Choose the right keywords
Anyone can reach the top spot in the Google search engine by targeting keywords and optimizing a page for that keyword which eventually has got no competence or irrelevant to your niche. But does this get business for you? Probably not, considering it’s not even a real product.
In my experience I seen a website which is into software service optimized their page with contents of popular English movie download link. But ranking for that keyword is no way going help us in getting business. We want to rank for keywords that people are searching for.
Tools like Google’s Keyword Planner or Keywords Everywhere can help you identify the right keywords for your niche business. Look for relevant keywords that have a decent number of searches, but with a little competition. Once your website gains a bit more authority and you’re ranking increases for easier keywords, you can then move on to more competitive keywords that will earn you more traffic.
Keywords Everywhere tool provides keyword search numbers directly in the search bar for free, but recently it become a paid version, we have to buy credits to load metrics.
3. Optimize your content that search engines understand easily
Now you have targeting niche and selected easier keywords to rank for..Now it is time for optimizing your contents.
- URL: For instance, instead of www.yoursite.com/dfdfdfs.htm, use www.yoursite.com/your-keywords-here.

Links play a critical role in terms of SEO. Even today links play a major role in keyword ranking. So how can we get links to our website or individual page?
